Being the ‘snowplow’

I bet many of you – including me – have been in some sort of situation before. You start off using products within your projects which you thought were already some sort of standard within your company. Instead you end up leading the pact and clear the path for those who follow. Something I like to call as being the ‘snowplow’. Which most likely end up doing tons of research before you can deliver something useful. The problem is not necessarily┬áthat you want to use these products, but that you want to use products which are (rather) new within your company. Most of the time you’ve already done your homework and balanced the effort versus the impact. The problem is that you’ve got incomplete or mislead information about how to implement this into your organization.
